Hey guys! I have another super short and easy tutorial this week! I started doing this side dutch braid a couple years ago after Amber Fillerup Clark from Barefoot Blonde doing something similar. To start, I take a couple of wispy pieces in the front and pin them out of the way, so I have a bit of hair hanging in the end. The next step is to take a bit of hair next to my part. I separate this into three pieces and begin to braid. The dutch braid is different than a normal french braid because it's actually inverted. So instead of pulling pieces over each other, I'm pulling them under. I start with the piece farthest from my face and pull it under the middle piece. Now, I take the front piece and pull it over the new middle piece. Then, once again, I'm going to take the back piece and pull it under the middle piece. This time, however, when I take the back piece, I'm going to grab a bit of extra hair to add to it. I'm going to continue in this pattern down the side of my head, taking pieces and adding bits of hair to them as I go. When I'm out of hair to add, I just keep braiding all the way down! When I have about five inches of hair left, I secure the braid with a ponytail. I leave so much hair at the end so I can do the next step! This is where I gently start pulling at the hair to make the braid appear thicker. I start at the bottom and pull those pieces outward. This is when that really long end will start to shorten up. I continue doing this over each piece until I've achieved the look I want! If you have any hair sticking out, or sprouts as I call them, secure them in the back with a bobby pin. Go ahead and release those pieces of hair you pinned aside at the beginning of the tutorial, and you're ready to go! Thanks again for reading, and I hope you guys have a great week!
Much Love, Vikka
